We all know how much more productive we are when we share. The same goes in the business world when you are sharing and hopefully collaborating on files from a file server network shares. All Mac and PCs have the capability of utilizing network shares and drive mappings from a file server. This will not only store data for back but to collaborate on all the files in these “shares” except for H drive or Personal Home Drive. We have not only documented a formal layout of what a typical file server sharing environment looks like from IT documentation perspective but we provided pictures below.
Drive Letters | Folder | Authentication | Description
H | \\server\home | server\ | Personal Home Drive | Everyone
M | \\server\HumanResources | server\ | HR and Books | Tom, Joe, Larry
